Ark

A little about the game . . .

Ark: Survival Evolved was released on March 16, 2016. This game is a survival game, but it's not just any regular survival game. Not only do you have to worry about your health, hunger, and thirst. You also have to worry about dinosaurs. Yes, dinosaurs. While you are trying to survive harsh times, there are dinosaurs around every corner---around every tree, searching and hunting for their next meal. Now, don't be too afraid, as you can tame any dinosaur you want, but good luck. As the game progresses, you are able to level up your stats and even level up the stats of your tamed dinosaurs. As you explore the beautifully, dangerous world, there is more to this island than meets the eye. As you become more technologically advanced and have made an army of dinosaurs, there are bigger creatures ready to be spawned in at any given time. Once you collect the correct items and have enough firepower and dino power, you'll then be ready to face the monsterous creatures.

Ark is not only singleplayer, but multiplayer as well. There are a bunch of PvE, player versus environment, and PvP, player versus player, servers. PvE is somewhat like playing in singleplayer, except that you can play with multiple players. The whole point of PvE is so you can't damage other players and other players can't damage you. Players can join each others tribes' and tame as many dinos as they want! PvE is really just to have fun with friends and meet new people. There is no worry about other players trying to destroy everything you've built.

And then there is PvP. PvP is like PvE, but there's a huge downside. PvP brings some excitement to Ark. In PvP, players can attack each other and their dinos. Not only can random players kill you and your dinos, they can also raid/destroy your base and take everything you have. Now, that doesn't really seem that fun losing everything. That's is why it is so important to get a huge tribe going and build up your defenses in your base. The only issue with being in such a huge tribe and being at the top of the food chain, is that everyone is after you and your goods. Sometimes, you don't just get raided by one tribe. There are moments when other huge tribes decide to become allies and take your tribe down. After that, all you can do is pray and believe that your men and women will come out on top in the battle.

Ark has a lot to offer to fans of dinosaurs. Personally, I stick to PvE because I'm not a fan of grinding for hours just to turn around and all of it be gone. There are a variety of dinosaurs in the game and unlimited potential with base building. One thing that Ark has done right is if a community built map becomes popular enough, they will implement that map into the actual game. Usually, those implemented maps are free for everyone to play. This is why Ark: Survival Evolved is one of my favorite games! If you are interested in learning more about the game, click here!
